Nicholas Harvey has done it again! Book 5 in the series and Nick is at his best. Authentic characters and dialogue add a level of reality to the writing that is difficult to replicate in todays world. Nick has obviously done his homework as the details of Island life consistently ring true. Add in the authors creativity and natural gift for story telling and you have a tale that is not not only believable but also an energetic romp through time connecting realistic events from different centuries. With multiple twists and turns driven by greed, love and evil. Nick paints not only a beautiful image of life under sea but also the brutal reality of existence on the bottom of the ocean. Each of his books in the series can be read as a stand alone adventure but the real beauty in the writing is in the connectivity between the characters and the lurking danger that always tends to seek them out. I have read all five of the AJ Bailey novels in sequence. As a diver who has been on many of the sites that Harvey utilizes in his novel, I can attest to the accuracy of his descriptions. If you are a person who dives, or even an avid snorkeler who appreciates the beautiful reefs of the Caribbean Sea, you will really enjoy his novels. He does an excellent job of developing the characters in his novels; to the point where I feel I personally know AJ Bailey.
